Lishui

Lishui was our home from our arrival in mainland China until January 4th. This is where we lived, worked, and got to know and love China.

First impression of my new home.

The view from our kitchen window. Every morning I'd wake up from a melody playing over the loud speakers all around campus signaling the start of the morning gymnastics.Several times in the begining of our stay in Lishui, we refered to the school grounds as a park. Can anyone blame us?

Our livingroom, where until it got too cold, Tilla had her bed. This is how our kitchen looked like before we cleaned it. This is the coldest room in the entire apartment.

Farmers carry their crops in baskets like these. Some times you'll even meet someone carrying them in the metro.

Small rivers are a natural part of the scenery in our area.

Our office - a place we've spent A LOT of time in!

Top row; Daniel, Mr. Fish, Jenny, Bonnie, Tilla and Joanna. Bottom row; Mrs. Da, Gloria, Mrs. Fu, Yvonne, Tasha and Mrs. Wu.

Yuanyuan, Jenny, Tilla, Cuty and Reidar celebrating Tilla's birthday late October.

This is our, at the moment pretty empty, garbage "can".

Every morning before breakfast you'll find all the bushes hidden under students' bed covers.

We got to borrow two bikes, and all though they were mainly used between the apartment and the office, we also discovered new parts of Lishui riding around on them.

We don't know the name of the place, but we love the food they serve! You pick the ingredients yourself, and they'll make a soup out of it for you.

We actually participated in the teachers' table tennis tournament this fall!

Table tennis is one of the most popular sports in mainland China, and all though we didn't do that well in the tournament, we had a good time.

We usually just make a SIMPLE breakfast in the kitchen. All though, the night Cuty was over, we had real food -that her mom had made us..!

It was nice being able to eat a real meal in our own apartment.

One of the first things they did at school after the first snow was to get as much as possible out of the trees.

The teachers in our office talked a lot about all the snow outside. I didn't really get that it was all that much.

When it became cold, we got a new best friend -the heater in the office.

This is how you very effictivly can use a hot water bottle; put it in your pocket.

Chinese people use an umbrella on three different occasions; if it rains, if the sun is shining, and if it snows.
